    Abstract

Gluten and hydrolyzed wheat proteins (HWP) were characterized, allergenic test solutions (ATS) for the basophil activation test combined with fluorescence-activated cell sorting were developed and applied on blood from patients with wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) and controls to determine allergic activations. Activations to ω5-gliadins and slightly HWP were predominant. High percentages of amylase/trypsin inhibitors were determined in some ATS indicating their relevance as allergens in WDEIA.
